Cotton (The white gold) is an agricultural strategic crop in Iran. However lack of a nationwide, intense and comprehensive organization, despite of huge labor intensive capacity and high foreign currency absorbing, caused it to receive low attention.

Meanwhile we are observing very year reduction of cotton farm surface and therefore decline of production. All the affairs caused specific concern to cotton authorities and textile industries. Therefore in order to prevent this harmful process to Iran agriculture and industries, Iran cotton union (ICU) established at 03.09.2002. The main goal of ICU to rearranging production over as following:

1) Timely providing cotton farmer’s inputs to comfort their mind.

2) Providing agricultural industry units at cotton zones with suitable rates and opportune times.

3) Cotton farm management by experience experts.

4) Education and extension courses for cotton farmers.

5) Active presents in cotton commercial affairs and creating logical communication between industry and cotton farmers.

6) Reservation of Iran’s global market share and useful utilizing up to date researches all around the world.

ICU hopes to take effective steps with the help of authorities due to Iran macro politics and cotton sustainable development plan.
